Owner and Artist, Jennifer Walters

I’m the proud mom of seven year old, Aayden and now Mimosas & Masterpieces!  Since I was young I’ve had a passion for creating art.  Whether drawing, painting, crafting and many other hobbies, I always enjoyed creating things and sharing them with others.  As a graduate from Hillsborough High School, I graduated with Art Honors and was a member of the National Art Honor Society.  After school, I decided to leave my passion for art behind in search of the right career.  I’ve had only a few of them in my life and my longest is working for a label company in Hillsborough NJ where from time to time I still get to use some of my creative passion.

I was in love with the idea of these paint and sip places and really it would have been a dream to have my own.  My own studio, something I've always wanted since I had the passion for art.  One night I took one of my best friends to one of these places.  She had never painted before but I watched her enjoy what she was doing, love the experience and the outcome, and see her artistic side blossom.  The feeling I had of seeing her go through that was a feeling I loved and I’ve been chasing since.  Not long ago another friend and I attended a paint and sip event at a restaurant where we painted wine glasses, I thought, this is it!  I can do this!  I don't need a studio.  I looked around the room, took in the amount of people and what they were all doing and thought why haven't i already thought of this!?  Genius!  I can travel and teach people how to paint and have fun doing it!  I came home that night and my mind did not stop for about 36 hours strait.  I researched ideas, looked into other companies, thought about names, looked at costs, created spreadsheets and I was on my way.  I had passion and drive that I have not felt before.  Once I get my mind on something I will run with it until I see it through.  Although I could not decide on a name right away, I set up a kickoff party for some friends within a few days of my “aha moment” and decided to do it late morning for a brunch so that people still had their day to themselves.  I named the event Mimosas & Masterpieces.  It clicked and since then, it just stuck!

Along with my passion for art and time with my son, I also spend time volunteering with the Ladies Auxiliary of Manville Fire Co. #3.  I have been a member and helping coordinate fundraising events for over 15 years, so as the owner of Mimosas & Masterpieces I love being a partner in fundraising events and giving back, especially within my community.  It's also why Mimosas & Masterpieces is a part of Somerset County's Partners in Business and Chamber of Commerce.  I appreciate working with members in the community and learning how we can help each other.

Hello fellow fans and painters!  My name is Jennifer, I’m a proud mom of my son Aayden, who's also known as "The Vacuum Boy and Cuckoo Doc"!  He's been fixing both for a few years now!  Sadly in November of 2022 our Furbaby Rascal crossed the Rainbow Bridge along with Holly the Cockateil just a few days later.  Still fluttering are parakeets Blue and Lavender!

Since I was young I’ve had a passion for creating art; whether drawing, painting or crafting, I always enjoyed creating things to share with others.  As a 1997 National Art Honor Society graduate from Hillsborough High School, I decided to leave my passion for art behind in search of the right career.  Although I’ve had only a few of them in my life, my longest is working for a label company in Hillsborough NJ where from time to time I still get to use some of my creative energy.

I started seeing these paint and sip places pop up so one night I took a friend with me.  She had never painted before but I watched her enjoy what she was doing, love the experience and the outcome, and see her artistic side blossom.  The feeling I had of seeing her go through that was a feeling I loved and I’ve been chasing since.  I would have loved to have my own studio, something I've wanted since my passion for art began.

In the fall of 2015, another friend and I attended a paint and sip event at a restaurant where we painted wine glasses.  My friend said, "You know you could do this."  I looked around the room, took in the experience and said, "Why haven't I already thought of this!?"  Genius!  I can travel and teach people how to paint and have fun doing it!  I came home that night and my mind did not stop for about 36 hours.  I researched ideas, looked into other companies, thought about names, looked at costs, created spreadsheets and I was on my way.  I had a passion and drive that I have not felt before.  At first I could not decide on a name but I set up a kickoff party for some friends within a few days of my “aha moment” and decided to do it late morning for a brunch.  I named the event Mimosas & Masterpieces and since then, the name just stuck!

While we enjoy getting on the road and doing parties in person, we have also begun offering Private Zoom parties and LIVE Streaming virtual events.  Check out our Facebook page for upcoming events and look our YouTube Channel for past saved free video sessions!  Throughout those Live or Zoom events, Mark is the voice behind the scenes as well as my partner in life.  Coming from a film, stage and acting background, he's making it his mission to work on a "TV" series for Mimosas & Masterpieces.  For now, he's the director of our little Live sessions as well as Co-Packer for kits and Gofer for all the other things we need!

Along with my passion for art and time with my son and Mark, I also spent time volunteering with the Ladies Auxiliary of Manville Fire Co. #3.  I have been a member and helping coordinate fundraising events for over 20 years. As the owner of Mimosas & Masterpieces I love being a partner in fundraising events and giving back, especially within our community.  It's also why Mimosas & Masterpieces partners with other businesses and women, to help raise people up and support them in their endeavors.  Allow me to help you bring awareness to what's important to you!
